The Day of the Doctor[]
This episode is airing on the 23rd of November 2013, it will include Matt Smith (11th Doctor), Jenna Louis-Coleman (Clara) David Tennant (10th Doctor) Billy Piper (Rose) and John Hurt (The Doctor). The trailer starts where it all began, the scrap yard on Tottter’s Lane. It had to, but this time it’s been reappproriated as a Time Lord trophy cabinet. The Masque of Mandragora, Clockwork droid faces, miniature Yeti model and the Key to Time tracer are spilling around while a marvellously high definition First Doctor watches on. Fuelling the idea that the classic series will have more than cursory role in the anniversary special, the history of the series dominates the trailer. Some of the Daleks, the TARDIS and console room may well be taken from An Adventure in Time and Space, the dramatisation of the show’s genesis which is also screening on 23rd November. New iterations of the Cybermen and the Bronze Daleks do make fleeting appearance, but the terror is mostly hosted by various original series Daleks and even the rather underrated 1980s Cybermen. As it’s an anniversary special, hopefully they’ll all be shuttled in. Robot of Death D84 is a strange inclusion, but so is the Empress of the Racnoss from 2006 Christmas special The Runaway Bride. Mind you, that’s when the Tenth Doctor first showed his war mettle against a monster that unwittingly created Earth! Far more than a token inclusion, it may suggest that there will be more companions showing up than we thought... After all, that special was also the first appearance of Catherine Tate’s Donna Noble.
